You’ve got the camera, now what?

January 26th, 2009

Hey everyone! After quite some time, several requests and the adjusting of schedules, my teaching private and group photography classes has begun. Last week I started my private lessons in my studio. I’m sprucing up an area just for my students so we can be comfortable and get down to the business of understanding that camera in your hands.

Many scrapbookers, soccer Mom’s, vacationers and aspiring amateurs have either received DSLR cameras for Christmas or have flipped out their own coin and purchased a DSLR for themselves, only to be faced with a complicated manual and and a million questions. Here’s where I step in.

Photography shouldn’t be daunting or stressful. It should be fun and an extension of your creativity. Besides, isn’t that why you bought or asked for that camera in the first place? You want to go on vacation and pull out that camera and take great photographs to remember where you’ve been. When there’s a funny moment on your vacation you want to be able to capture it and feel that same joy years later. Oh! And do it on the fly!

Holidays! Oh the holidays. Family and friends, presents and food! Capture moments creatively to put in that scrapbook or to use as a Christmas card. We’ll explore angles, light and depth of field.

I’ll share with you different techniques that seriously aren’t brain surgery. So the next time you visit the magic kingdom or document your kid’s birthday your pictures won’t look ordinary.

Let’s learn to see light and how it effects our camera. You’ll learn to see textures around us and learn how to use them to our advantage.

Classes are private, 2 hours each and I work with your schedule in order to make it convenient for you. We can also put together all day Saturday group classes if you have a group that you’d like to learn with such as school teachers. So call me or email me for pricing and availability!

Hope to hear from you soon!

This past Saturday I was invited to photograph the wedding of Pierre and Jasmine LeVaux. It was a beautiful day and I hope you get a glimpse of their love for each other in this slide show. Enjoy!
